[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Cujo, the book released in 1981, was about a dog who contracted rabies, went mad, and subsequently trapped a woman and her son inside a car.

Cujo, the film released in 1983, followed much of the same plot.

And now, we come to reboot, C.U.J.O., which will likely be about something far, far different.

Yes, folks, you heard me correctly. The remake of the mad dog film based on the Stephen King novel will be named C.U.J.O. And just what does C.U.J.O. stand for?

Canine Unit Joint Operations, of course.

Though we don’t know much about the film, with a title like that, it seems like it will have some sort of military connection. Pure speculation here, but I would assume there is some sort of test that goes wrong, causing a dog to go mad, and hence the rest of the plot coming into play.

Look, I’m a huge Stephen King fan. I’ve his books religiously since I was about 11. Cujo was never one of my favorites. Hell, even the movie adaptation is just OK. That said, do we really need a reboot of this one?

I know we’re all getting remake and reboot fatigue. But who knows, maybe this will be one of the ones that actually pull it off? For the time being, however, I am not really on board for this idea.

The news about the title came from Film School Rejects, who received a press release stating that DJ Perry has been cast in the film.

Lang Elliott, who is directing C.U.J.O. and is also head of the original film’s production company, said that “DJ Perry sets a new refreshing standard from the typical Hollywood actors. Besides being extremely talented, DJ does stunts, martial arts and can stop bullets with his teeth! He does it all.”

Will any of those skills come into play? Who knows. I guess we’ll wait and see.

How do you feel about the massive change to the film’s direction? Do you like the original film? Are you looking forward to this one? Let us know in the comments below![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][banner728 banner=”557356c28958a”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
