Hello boys and ghouls!  It’s time to jump back into Universal Studios Hollywood and look at the fiendish progress being made in preparation for Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights  2o15.  There are currently 4 mazes that are visibly under construction while we are pretty sure there are more being built. Here we offer a rundown of the progress and a recap of the latest news.

One of the most prolific wellsprings of information comes from Universal Studios Hollywood HHN Creative Director, John Murdy and his @HorrorNights Twitter account. With nearly 39 thousand entries and almost twice as many followers his yearly riddles, hints, and revelations have become tradition.

We now offer you pictures from the park along with some highlights from Mr. Murdy’s Twitter feed.  For more information on Universal Halloween Horror Nights or the park itself follow the these links…

Parisian Courtyard

The only maze so far on the upper lot is back in the usual spot in the French Courtyard. We know nothing yet about what this particular maze is or will be.  You can rest assured we will drop the news when it hits.  It is fascinating to see how they manage to shoehorn a walkthrough haunted house into this asymmetrical, old-world cobbling of façades.  Let’s sincerely hope that it is better than last year’s anemic Dracula Untold.

At this point there is nothing but recycled flats and construction tools behind the barriers that really don’t offer much of a clue as to what is in store.

Revenge of the Mummy Extended Queue

Here we are in the extended queue of the Mummy.  This is a regular space for a Halloween Horror Nights maze and one that has a great track record too.  Last year’s Sweet Licks maze was a surprise hit that had a maniacal sense of humor.  What will be dropping into the spot this year?  We aren’t too sure yet.  In fact, they have barely laid the carpet and strung the canopy.

Extended Jurassic Park Queue

Insidious Return to the further

Just yesterday Insidious Return the the Further was announced for both Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando. According to Creative Director of Halloween Horror Nights, John Murdy, through his @horrornights twitter account…

Our Insidious maze in 2013 remains to this day, the highest guest rated maze in the entire history of HHN in Hollywood!

So the decision to RETURN TO THE FURTHER this year with the release of INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3 was a no-Brainer for me. We had to do it.

When Chris & I sat down with Leigh to discuss our maze, we knew we wanted to embrace the entire franchise but not merely repeat 2013 again.

We have it confirmed through the @HorrorNights twitter account that the maze in Hollywood will be in the extended Jurassic Park queue.

You’ll also run into The Bride in Black, The Red Demon and all the Further Ghosts…new ones and old favs. The maze will be in JP queue

Speaking about THE FURTHER, you’ll spend a lot more time in there. It plays a more prominent role, right from the beginning of the maze…

The first Insidious maze, in 2013 was simply brilliant.  We can only wait with anticipation at the terrifying surprises that will be in store for us this time around.

Former Stage 28 Area

We see now that a maze tent has gone up in the vacant lot that was Stage 28.  While Murdy has not offered anything but the cryptic clues that are indecipherable to even the most inclined brain, we have nothing else for you at the moment.  Still, we can only dream of something cool that would pay homage to the set that once held that spot on the lot.  We can only wait and see.

Metro Sets

Crimson Peak Maze of Madness was announced at Comic-Con 2015.  While no construction is visible, we know VIA @Horrornights…

This maze will be located in the metro sets on the universal back lot. We’re grateful to the studio for letting us have access to that again

Below is the teaser video and announcement.

Terror Tram Route

We are pretty much assuming that the Terror Tram will take the same route this year up the trail around the hills and through the War of the Worlds set.  Although, one thing to note is that there is still some construction taking place here.  We will keep an eye on things for you.
