Knott’s Scary Farm Announces a slew of new Horrors for Scary Farm 2017

Truly one of our favorite times of year, the Knott’s Scary Farm announcement event took place Thursday night. Like stepping through a foggy portal into Halloween future, passholders and invited guest flooded the cavernous Ghoultime Theatre with baited breath. Soon the veil would be lifted and we would know all of the unspeakable horrors that await us for Knott’s 45th Scary Farm.

Knott’s has been crafty this year with their information. Over the past month or so they have quietly announced the returning mazes for 2017. No Dead of Winter, no Gunslinger’s Grave, instead the fan favorites are back like Special Ops: Infected, Trick Or Treat, Shadowlands, and Paranormal Inc.

Then we have big news from coming from the Timber Mountain Log Ride, we find out exactly what has been going on in the Boardwalk Ballroom, and we discover what is growing behind the fences in Camp Snoopy.

Tonight we will get the news to you asap and deliver the interviews tomorrow as we get them uploaded. We gave our very best shot at delivering Live Streaming on Youtube but dangit if the public wifi tanked over and over with the huge amount of fans using the network too.

Such is social Media.

Scare Zones

There are no surprises this year as we return with the same strong set of Scare Zones  for Knott’s Scary Farm.  No complaints here.

Halloween Hootenanny

Knott’s hit the crowd with a wallop by announcing an all new Halloween overlay for the refurbished Timber Mountain Log Ride. This seasonal overlay will be family friendly in the day and terrifying at night with the addition of live actors during haunt. This is kind of the best news ever.

Returning Mazes

Jeff Tucker started the presentation by going through the returning mazes for the year.  No Dead of Winter, no Gunslinger’s Grave. Yet we have a host of phenomenal experiences that have been plussed in some way, shape or form.

Special Ops: INFECTED

The reinvention of Knott’s Special Ops maze returns! Get ready to face off against hordes of zombies in the interactive maze, Special Ops: Infected. #ScaryFarm

Armed with a cutting edge laser gun, you can battle the zombie apocalypse through blood soaked city streets and an underground sewer system crawling with nearly one hundred ravenous zombies. And remember, headshots only!

Maze designer Jon Cooke promises more interactive targets that trigger effects and a new big bad boss that strikes you back.

VOODOO

Knott’s Scary Farm announced that Voodoo is returning, but with a particular twist. Guests will enter the back of the maze and proceed from there, reversing the original path. The question remains; Why? We shall see soon enough when Knott’s Scary Farm opens up on September 21st.

Red Barn

Well, it’s back. Probably one of our least favorite mazes in years returns. The storyline of an insane clan of hillbillies that are attacking those naive enough to wander into their lair is back. We have the most sincere hopes that this maze will finally reach the grind house feel that inspired it.

Paranormal Inc. Returns

Probably one of the most perfect mazes to ever come to Knott’s Scary Farm is returning for a third year of thrills and chills. What is amazing is that this is one of the few mazes that we hope they don’t change. Not one single inch of it. We love the set up in the opening scene, we are crazy for the reveal and how there are two forced paths, we even love the bizarre netherworld ending. Just pretty much awesome. If only this were a ride.

Shadowlands

Last year HorrorBuzz voted Shadowlands as the best maze of the year and we were stoked when Knott’s announced its return. This moody, atmospheric walkthrough took an original concept and dialed it to 11 with Samarai, swords, and the afterlife. Can’t wait to return.

The Tooth Fairy

Daniel Miller’s disturbing Tooth Fairy maze is back for another round of extracting screams from guests.

Shows

The one and only mistress of the dark is returning for her final appearance at Knott’s Scary Farm. If last years show is any indication of what is to come we can bet on a pretty fun show. That one was arguably her best yet.

The Hanging: Fake Noose!

Of course The Hanging is back. This time we are hanging FAKE NOOSE. Ken Parks and team are again lampooning what is left of pop culture in a show in Calico Square.

Trick Or Treat: Lights Out

Scared of the dark? Returning more sinister and twisted than ever before, guests are invited to step inside the Green Witch’s haunted home and venture through its dark pathways in Trick or Treat: Lights Out.  Armed with only a faulty flashlight, brave visitors must face the terror of the Green Witch’s house completely in the dark. Featuring new state-of-the-art effects, unexpected scares and other eerie surprises, Trick-or-Treat is back to terrorize like never before.

Early reports from those lucky enough to have gone and taken a peek at this revamp of the crowd favorite are calling it, “Terrifying”. Simply can’t wait to see this classic grow some claws and really come for us.

Pumpkin Eater

Daring guests will attempt to survive the wrath of the murderous 7-foot tall creature that haunts the old woods surrounding The Hollow in this year’s new maze, Pumpkin Eater. The notorious creature is on the prowl, hidden within the dark confines of the haunted town he once terrorized. To escape the sinister Pumpkin Eater’s wrath all who enter must go on a quest through the silent town of victims, face a cave of crawling insects and solve the labyrinth of thorns that blocks the only way out.

DARK RIDE

Guests will journey through an abandoned carnival ride where cruel characters still linger in the shadows in Dark Ride, Knott’s Scary Farm’s newest maze. The carnival attraction has become a refuge for sideshow freaks and now those shunned performers have created an ominous world where they plan to unleash terror on those who enter. Dark Ride will lead brave visitors through a treacherous path and into the bowels of a long neglected attraction as sinister shadows and horrifying scenes cast darkness over the once pleasant ride.

That is that, as they say. Knott’s is gearing up for a BIG announcement event next Thursday so you can expect yet another Knott’s Scary Farm Haunt Tracker next week. You can also be sure to watch out live feed of the event on our YouTube Channel and follow us on Twitter and Instagram too and keep up on all things Scary Farm.
