If you know anything about horror, then you MUST know about Peaches Christ. The Midnight maven, horror master, and drag queen superstar known for her Midnight Mass screenings of cult horror classics at the Castro theatre in San Fransisco. In 2010 Peaches directed her first film, All About Evil. Many kinda wondered if another movie might be in the works. Well, now we know.

At a recent panel at RuPaul’s DragCon Peaches announced a new feature film Slay Gardens! It will be a horror drag musical starring Jinkx Monsoon. Using Peaches’ drag tribute show, Return to Grey Gardens as a starting point, Peaches will reprise her role as Big Peachy while RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 winner Jinkx Monsoon will return as Lil’ Jinkxy. Then the movie gets a little meta. The two drag queens are driven to madness after being forced to perform the same show every night for forty years. Trapped in a theater and forced to perform the same show every night for a mysterious figure in the dark they face deadly consequences if they refuse.

Christ revealed that the film would be a wholly unique, brand new vision, blending the heightened drag sensibilites of her stage shows with her love of cinematic horror.
“All About Evil felt like the movie I had to make as Joshua- a boy who grew up obsessed with horror movies, unhinged women, and gore…whereas Slay Gardens is a movie being made more from my Peaches-mind, and I want it to be the insane drag queen-driven feature film musical spook-show that any Peaches Christ fan will be thrilled to see. To say it’s weird is a bit of an understatement,” Christ said of the project.

Norman Gidney and Peaches Christ

In addition to Peaches Christ and Jinkx Monsoon, the film will also star such notables as cult icon Mink Stole (Desperate Living, Serial Mom), Bob the Drag Queen (Cherry Pop, Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Eight), and several other yet to be announced surprises.

Slay Gardens will be directed by Peaches Christ’s alter-ego, Joshua Grannell and is based on an original script written by Grannell and HorrorBuzz guest columnist and horror icon, Michael Varrati (Tales of Poe, Host of Dead for Filth). The film will feature original songs and lyrics by Jinkx Monsoon and Major Scales.

Currently, principle photography for Slay Gardens is set for January 2019, with the film likely to debut later that year. Slay Gardens will be produced by Ash Christian (Hurricane Bianca) and Brian Benson (Dolores, Sorry to Bother You).

This news has us DYING and that’s hard, we’re usually staunch.
