Looking for viewing options for the weekend? Gates of Darkness is coming ONDemand Friday, April 3rd and we have the trailer here for you to check it out. Directed by Don E. FauntLeRoy, from a script by Lesley-Anne Down, Robert Hickman, Chris Kanik, and Randolf Turrow, the horror film tells the story of a haunted teen who endures a terrifying exorcism in the hopes of unlocking shocking secrets about the church and his family. Did we mention the film stars SAW himself, Tobin Bell? Here are the trailer and poster below.

Synopsis: It’s been years since the Tade twin’s father ran out on his family. Their mother has remarried, and Michelle (Mary Mouser) is adjusting well to her new stepfather and stepsister (Alisha Boe of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.) But her twin brother, Stephen (Randy Shelly,) is becoming more rebellious and distant, haunted by remembered fragments of a traumatic past. As those fragments take shape, Stephen begins to suspect that his father never abandoned them, but had run afoul of diabolical forces. When his grandmother commits a shocking act that exposes the sins of their close-knit Catholic community-overseen by the imposing Monsignor Canell (Saw’s-JigsawTobin Bell)-those same forces come for him. If he is to survive, Stephen must do battle with the supernatural powers of darkness raging in his Church, in his family, and in his own heart.

So, Tobin Bell as a priest who is caring for a troubled, possibly possessed youth. How do we know he is edgy? Well all of the black and the piercings of course. But is he possessed? Only his priest knows for sure. This movie seems to have some lofty intentions, and good on them for it. I mean, how higher can you go than an appearance by Adrienne Barbeau? Not being Ironic, she is a legend. A scream queen to whom we all must bow.  We have not reviewed the film just yet, so hold tight on that. Regardless, this might be at least worth seeing.

Gates of Darkness will be released Ondemand April 3rd
