Summer is going medieval! Break out your chain mail and lances, Netflix has released official stills as the first look at their newest Arthurian tale, Cursed. The traditional tale gets a feminine twist and is told from the point of view of the (soon to be) Lady of the Lake. It’s all things dark and violent (as any good medieval story should be), but expect to see a lot of heart and passion amid the gritty and gory. Based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller, Cursed is sure to dazzle and impress, I mean just look at these stills!

Synopsis: Cursed is a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther. Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.

Cursed stars Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) as Nimue, Devon Terrell as Arthur (Barry), and Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings) as Merlin. Season 1 is set to release this Summer on Netflix. An exact release date has not been set yet, with summer fast approaching, we can expect to see a date soon. For all the latest info on this new and exciting twist on a classic story, visit Netflix’s website. The story goes that Excalibur chose Arthur…but what would happen if Excalibur chose a queen instead of a king? Well, we will find out this summer!
