Today, everybody in the gaming world was eagerly watching PlayStation’s Future of Gaming digital event, and waiting to see what big games were to be announced for this next generation console. To everyone’s delight, Capcom announced the eighth entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Village.

Synopsis: Set for release in 2021 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Steam, this highly anticipated game sets high expectations as it’s not only the next installment in this loved series, but it also releases on a new generation of consoles ready to shape the gaming future. Capcom used their optimized RE Engine to create bright and exciting gameplay experiences, as it is the same engine used for other popular games, such as Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.

Review of trailer: Starting off this worldwide premiere trailer, we are shown our first impressions of the new setting and plot of Resident Evil Village. We are shown fan favorite characters Ethan and Chris reuniting, thus starting off a long and horrifying new experience. Ethan has settled down in an attempt to live a normal life, and Chris’ brooding appearance leads us to believe there is more that meets the eye here. The graphics look just as incredible as you would expect, seeing how highly anticipated this new chapter is. A personal favorite touch is when you see the title “Village” appear on the screen, only to have parts of the word hidden in a flash in order to reveal “VIII,” the Roman numerals for eight. With this play on words, we see that this is the eighth entry in the Resident Evil series, even if hidden in the title.

As of right now, no exact release date has been announced for Resident Evil Village, though we do know it will be released in 2021 on the two new generation consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – as well as Steam for PC players. Now, to try to wait as patiently as possible for these new nightmare-inducing horrors to arrive…
