At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the creators of the comic series Ice Cream Man launched an online series of mini-comics spun off in the same universe. In September these stories will be collected and released physically in Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix #1!

These were originally intended not only to give people an extra avenue of entertainment while the industry was on pause, but also to help support comic shops impacted by the crisis. To that end, 50% of all proceeds from the digital shorts were donated to the Comicbook United fund. That generosity will continue into the physical run of Quarantine Comix as 50% of creator profits will be used to help impacted stores get back on their feet.

“We at Team ICM are so jazzed to bring these kooky shorts to print—it’s another chance for us to help the brick-and-mortar shops that have nurtured and fed us from youth through adulthood,” said Prince. “That we also get to broaden the Ice Cream Man mythos in the process is just the cherry on top.”

The print edition of Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix #1 will also feature new cover art and bonus stories from guest creators. When asked about the process behind the innovative mini-comics and bringing these releases to print series creator Martin Morazzo said “Quarantine Comix has been a surprising experiment! Working real fast, a short story per week, also inviting insanely talented colleagues and sharing the ICM world with them, all of it while helping comic shops, during these strange hard times, felt really good! Now, all these stories will be printed in a single book and we’ll have the chance to keep helping!”

Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, September 9.

Ice Cream Man Presents: Quarantine Comix #1 remains available to purchase in digital format on the Quarantine Comix website.
