Something (dark and) wicked this way comes! RLJE Films and Shudder are proud to present their latest haunting endeavor, The Dark and the Wicked, coming to theaters and on-demand this fall! The film’s found great success at this year’s Fantasia Film Festival and will now get a wide release. Travel to a quiet farm and see a family reunited under less than ideal circumstances as they find themselves slowly consumed by an evil force.

Dark and the Wicked

Synopsis: On a secluded farm, a man is slowly dying. Bedridden and fighting through his final breaths, his wife is slowly succumbing to overwhelming grief. To help their mother and say goodbye to their father, siblings Louise (Marin Ireland) and Michael (Michael Abbott Jr.) return to their family farm. It doesn’t take long for them to see that something’s wrong with mom, though—something more than her heavy sorrow. Gradually, as their own grief mounts, Louise and Michael begin suffering from a darkness similar to their mother’s, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that something evil is taking over their family.

THE DARK AND THE WICKED Official Trailer
The Dark and the Wicked was well received at the Fantasia Film Festival and it is no surprise why. This film is sure to be a test of nerves. I watched this trailer several times because it was that good. The setting is so dark, tense, and heavy, you’ll be begging for mercy. This looks to be a slow burn that quickly catches flame for a fiery finish. This one is definitely on the must-watch list.

Written and directed by Bryan Bertino, The Dark and the Wicked stars Marin Ireland, Michael Abbott Jr., and Xander Berkeley. The film released at Fantasia Film Festival on August 28, 2020, and will be wide released in theaters (where theaters are open/available), on-demand, and on digital November 6, 2020.
