Aliens, Dance Parties, Horror Films, Awards and Nominations…all who attended the Shockfest Supernatural Drive-In in Amarillo Texas October 23rd, 2020 experienced first hand what it meant to take part in the only living Film Festival still holding live events in 2020.  The Amarillo news blew up with the announcement of the coming of Shockfest (seen HERE and HERE) The Shockfest Portal Event began with a reading of the Award Nominees for their Monster Competition and Poster Competition.  The award for Excellence in Media in the Field of the Paranormal was presented to Amarillo’s own Buried Secrets Paranormal, who screened one of their more notable episodes of their series (available on VIDI Space) titled Lockdown in Panhandle Inn.  Additionally, a collection of official selections from Shockfest’s Comedy and Music-based events Mockfest and Rockfest were also screened at the Drive-In, celebrating both the light side and the metal side of Horror.

Official Selections of The Director’s Reel Competition were also screened at the Supernatural Drive-In, showcasing the work of such filmmakers as Patrick Rea (Fused), Brandon Slagle (Attack of the Unknown), Christopher Maggard (Rosa Leigh), Luke St. Germaine (The Ghosts of Upham St.), Earl Martin (Mr. Mops), Destiny Soria (Christmas Slasher) and many more notable AND up and coming Horror Filmmakers.  Local Amarillo organizations such as Blank Spaces and The Pondaseta Brewing Co. took an active hand in aiding the coming of Shockfest to Amarillo as well.

Between the screenings, awards and nominations, mysterious lights from the sky caused bizarre radio signals to tap into the movie projector, broadcasting cryptic messages from a mysterious Alien being from beyond the stars.  This intergalactic menace sought to take over the bodies of the guests of the Drive-In, forcing them to engage in the dance party of a lifetime.  Eyewitness footage of this Alien Invasion can be seen on the Shockfest Facebook Page here.

This marks the 4th LIVE event Shockfest Film Festival has held this year, starting with their Times Square showcase, Macabre Mansion, The Historic Tour of Salem Massachusetts, The Shockfest Witch Trials, and the Mystical Theatrical experience The Horror Library, A Vegas Magic Show.  As the portal disappeared into the aether of Amarillo, the coming of the official Shockfest Film Festival harkened the spirits of the undead to perk their attention to the Shockfest Facebook Page for news and updates regarding just what to expect at the final great Halloween Event of the year taking place in Los Angeles, CA…The Shockfest Spookshow!
