Long Beach’s iconic ghostly attraction, the Queen Mary, heralded as one of the Top 10 Most Haunted Places in America by Time Magazine, is set to revive its famed Dark Harbor event this fall. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent ship renovations, Dark Harbor, a staple in Southern California’s Halloween festivities, is making a thrilling comeback.
Mayor Rex Richardson announced the return, highlighting the event’s significant role in boosting tourism and contributing to the local economy. “Dark Harbor has become an iconic part of our city’s Halloween celebrations,” said Richardson. “Its return marks a major step in the Queen Mary’s recovery and its continued prominence as a premier tourist attraction.”
Starting September 20th and running through November 2nd, the event promises an array of attractions including haunted mazes, live entertainment, and themed bars, with both beloved characters returning and new surprises to be revealed. Tickets are set to go on sale late summer, and those eager for early access can sign up for updates at the event’s official website.
In addition to drawing thrill-seekers, Dark Harbor is also providing numerous employment opportunities in various capacities such as scare actors, event staff, and tech personnel, with applications available online.
As the spirits rise once again, both residents and visitors of Long Beach are invited to partake in what promises to be a spectacularly haunting experience at the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor.
