Horror enthusiasts have something thrilling to anticipate this Fall as Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and supernatural content, unveils its latest original production, HAZE. Formerly known as TREATMENT, the psychological thriller will make its world premiere at New York’s prestigious LGBTQ Film Festival, NewFest, before an exclusive streaming premiere on Shudder this Fall.
Written and directed by Matthew Fifer, acclaimed for CICADA, HAZE delves into the mysterious and haunting past of a young journalist (Cole Doman), who returns to his hometown to uncover the unsolved deaths at an abandoned psychiatric center. As he grapples with the shadow of his past and a new enigmatic figure, family secrets intertwine with the town’s hidden truths in this gripping psychological thriller.
“When so much of the industry is playing it safe, Shudder continues to be fearless in exploring niche genres and empowering queer filmmakers,” Fifer shared. “I’m lucky to be working with them and honored to have this film make its world premiere at NewFest. HAZE is inspired by the horror films I grew up watching with my grandmother. It was made with a small but fierce crew of collaborators, working with limited resources and a lot of love.”
The film is brought to life with the aid of producers Jeffrey Winter, Ramfis Myrthil, Stephen Israel, and Drew Sklar. It features a talented cast, including Cole Doman (MUTT), Brian J. Smith (SENSE8), David Pittu (HALSTON), and Annie Golden (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK).
Shudder subscribers can look forward to the exclusive streaming premiere of HAZE this Fall.
