London’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest 2024 is set to host the World Premiere of THE DÆMON, a cosmic thriller co-directed by Matt Devino and David Michael Yohe. Slated for its first screening on August 23rd, the film delves into Lovecraftian horror, exploring the terrifying intersection of past traumas and ancient malevolence.

THE DÆMON follows Tom, a man haunted by the aftermath of his father’s suicide, as he retreats to a lakeside cottage where his father met his tragic end. What begins as a quest for solace quickly turns into a descent into madness, as Tom confronts a dark, mystifying force lurking beneath the lake’s surface. With his communication dwindling to silence, Tom’s wife, Kathy, seeks the help of her brother Mark and his wife Jess, a trauma counselor, to rescue him. Unbeknownst to them, the evil that consumed Tom’s parents now threatens them all.

Co-directors Yohe and Devino have described the film as a deeply personal project, reflecting their own fears and exploring the fragile boundary between reality and the supernatural. “THE DÆMON is a reflection of our own fears, an exploration of the profound connection between past and present, and the acknowledgment that in the face of cosmic forces, hope may not be enough to save us,” they shared ahead of the premiere.

The film’s slow-burn narrative, combined with its cosmic horror elements, promises to resonate with viewers, drawing them into a world where the strength of the human spirit is relentlessly tested. Horror enthusiasts attending FrightFest can expect a chilling, atmospheric experience that blurs the lines between past trauma and supernatural dread.
