Filmmaker Bari Kang, known for his previous work on LUCKY and THE SCRAPPER, is set to unveil his debut horror film, ITCH!, at the Dances With Films: New York festival on December 7th. The film marks Kang’s first venture into the zombie genre, offering a grim and action-packed exploration of survival under extreme circumstances.
ITCH! introduces audiences to a world ravaged by a terrifying outbreak dubbed “The Itch.” This infection transforms its victims into frenzied, self-destructive versions of themselves. The story follows Jay, a grieving widower who finds temporary refuge in a department store with his estranged young daughter. What begins as a fragile safe haven quickly becomes a high-stakes battleground, as paranoia and fear grip the group of survivors.
As the infection spreads and tensions rise, ITCH! delves into the psychological and emotional toll of survival. Jay and his daughter must navigate the darkness within their makeshift community while confronting their own fractured bond. Each choice carries life-or-death consequences, culminating in a dramatic finale that challenges the limits of human resilience and parental devotion.
Written and directed by Bari Kang, the film stars Kang himself, alongside Olivia Kang, Patrick Michael Valley, Ximena Uribe Vargas, and Maria Ventura Lucas. Produced by Monica De Oliveira and Bari Kang, ITCH! promises a visceral take on the zombie genre.
