Image Comics and Dynamite Entertainment are joining forces this summer for the long-awaited reunion of two of horror comics’ most iconic women. Witchblade/Vampirella #1 arrives in comic book shops on Wednesday, August 26, the first of two interconnected crossover one-shots pairing supernatural detective Sara Pezzini with the legendary vampire hunter Vampirella.

The one-shot is written by Marguerite Bennett (Odin, Bombshells, Batwoman) with art from Laura Braga (Future State: The Next Batman, Captain Marvel, Dazzler). In the story, Detective Sara Pezzini faces a mutated vampire terrorizing the city — something unlike anything she’s encountered before. Just as hope begins to fade, Vampirella arrives to help. With Sara already infected by the creature’s bite, the clock is running and trust between the two women is anything but guaranteed.

Bennett brings the chemistry she’s known for: “Witchblade and Vampirella go together like me and Laura Braga — our story is fun, sexy, ferocious, and full of monstrosity.” Matt Hawkins, President and COO at Top Cow, called it “a story that doesn’t play it safe. It puts Sara and Vampirella on a collision course where trust is fragile and the consequences are permanent.”

This marks the first major Witchblade/Vampirella crossover in over 20 years. The one-shot ships with three covers: Cover A by Braga, Cover B by Joseph Michael Linsner, and Cover C by Sveta Shubina. A companion title — Vampirella/Witchblade #1, written by Erica Schultz with art by Valentina Pinti — follows from Dynamite Entertainment in September.

Witchblade/Vampirella #1 hits shelves August 26, 2026, and will be available digitally on Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
