Bleecker Street has released the first teaser trailer for The Third Parent, a suburban horror film starring Rob Lowe (The Outsiders, St. Elmo’s Fire), Crispin Glover (Back to the Future, Willard), and Roselyn Sánchez (Rush Hour 2). The film arrives in theaters this winter.

David Michaels directs this adaptation of the viral “creepypasta” series of internet stories by writer Elias Witherow. The story unfolds during a Fourth of July celebration, when a disturbing figure named Tommy Taffy emerges. Disguising himself as a human, he infiltrates a suburban neighborhood and imposes authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family.
The teaser leans on the tagline “Your family will soon be complete,” and a companion website, BewareTheThirdParent.com, presents itself as a survivor’s archive documenting Tommy Taffy and his methods. It is a fitting hook for a film born on the internet’s corner of campfire horror.
Bleecker Street has not yet announced a specific release date, so keep an eye on the studio’s page for the booking announcement and a full trailer.
