unnamedHell Town… Plain unadulterated mega-camp that is so far in that you can’t help but be pulled inexorably in on the joke. A slippery slope of bad taste that gets more and more insane, Hell Town is presented as a serialized melodrama that makes telenovelas look like straight up Masterpiece Theatre. Dammit, it’s terrible, but it is so much fun that you can’t help but die laughing.

Bookended by elegant, yet cheeky Debbie Rochon (Model Hunger, Return to Nuke ‘Em High, The Theater Bizarre) plays hostess to a three episode story that tells the tale of romance, intrigue and, of course, murder. The story follows a family and peripheral characters through their daily lives as a matriarch lies comatose in a bed and the remaining family squabbles over the inheratenace. Oh, did we mention there is a serial killer on the loose, killing all of the high school jocks? Yeah. There is a killer killing jocks.

Filling out the cast of the relentlessly impenetrable plot Krysten Day, Amanda Deibert, Owen Lawless, Ben Windholz, Jennifer Grace and Balderson muse Pleasant Gehman. Each of the cast members is playing their part to a ridiculously broad level that demands attention. Not since Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy have we seen such intentionally bad performances. That is the point though. Give in, have fun. Die laughing.

helltown1Hell Town has made audiences and critics laugh and scream, picking up awards for Best Feature at Colorado Horror-Con, as well as a Best Feature and Best Actress win for Amanda Deibert, with nominations for Best Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography, at the Crimson Scream Horror Film Festival.
We have to remind you, this is NOT a film to be judged on the level of other straightforward horror movies. This film intends to be silly, goofy, bonkers, and it achieves that in spades. Hell Town is now available to rent or own starting August 23rd on iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, and XBox.
