Last month, Drunken Devil brought us a dark, dinner-time treat with their show To Live and Di(n)e in LA. Based on the crimes of Los Angeles’ past, guests were able to sit down to eat dinner with the ghosts of some of the most infamous figures from the city’s true crime history, amongst delicious cuisine, signature cocktails, and cabaret style performances.
People raved after this first showing, and those who were unable to attend have been asking when it might, if ever, return again for them to experience it. Well, lucky for you, the Drunken Devil himself has heard these calls, and the show will be remounted again on Thursday, November 30th, 2017.
“After a sold-out success at Think Tank, we are bringing back this celebrated show, with a goal in mind that it will become a bi-monthly experience,” says Matt Dorado, Creator and Executive Producer of Drunken Devil. “I’ve been asked time and time again about a remount, and we are excited to bring this culinary adventure through our city’s dark past back for another round.”
During To Live and Di(n)e in LA, guests will sit down for dinner and come face-to-face with Elizabeth Short, better known as the Black Dahlia; Harvey Glatman, infamously nicknamed the “Glamour Girl Slayer” for his harrowing methods of killing aspiring young models in the late 1950’s; Susan Atkins, one of the most prominent members of the Manson Family (although Charles will not appear, his ominous presence will be noticeable throughout the event); and Richard Ramirez, also known as the “Night Stalker,” who terrorized suburban Los Angeles for years.
Each of the courses will be based off of one of these different figures from different eras, accompanied by thematically appropriate cocktails, paired to each dish.
“The food interweaves with the theatrical and interactive elements, creating an entirely unique narrative,” said Dorado.
The menu for this edition of the show will be conceived by Chef Leslie Pollack of My Sublime Cuisine in Santa Monica, California. Dorado confirms that there will be a vegetarian option this time around, allowing more guests the opportunity to enjoy the show.
In between courses, guests will experience dark burlesque, performance art, and more that will help guide the the story.
“Theatrical, cabaret-type performances are integral to the Drunken Devil experience, and we have a number of thrilling acts–some returning, and some brand new–that we’re excited to have as part of the experience.” Dorado says.
