BMI and White Bear PR Set To Host A Panel “SPINE-TINGLING SUSPENSE: Music From Thrillers and Drama” at WonderCon 2019
Panelists Ronit Kirchman, Will Bates, and The Newton Brothers Will Discuss Their Soundtracks and Music Scores for Top TV Shows and Films on Friday, March 29th
WHO: BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.) and White Bear PR are excited to present the highly anticipated “Spine-Tingling Suspense: Music from Thrillers and Drama” panel at WonderCon 2019. The discussion will feature composers Ronit Kirchman, Will Bates, and The Newton Brothers, whose music is behind some of the most iconic chilling scenes from TV and film including: The Magicians, Nightflyers, The Sinner, and The Haunting of Hill House. The panel will be moderated by BMI’s Senior Director of Creative, Film, TV & Visual Media Anne Cecere and White Bear PR’s Chandler Poling.
WHAT: The “Spine-Tingling Suspense: Music from Thrillers and Drama” panel allows panelists to elaborate on the process of creating music for their most suspenseful projects across the silver screen and television, while offering additional behind the scenes details. Following the panel, there will be a Q&A with exclusive giveaways to audience members.

Ronit Kirchman is a composer, music producer, songwriter, singer, electronic artist and multi-instrumentalist. She creates music for film and television, theater and dance, multimedia installations, as well as the concert stage. Kirchman is the composer behind the riveting Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated television series The Sinner. Her film scores include Zen and the Art of Dying, Finding Neighbors, The Skin I’m In, The Golden Age of Fish, Say You Love Me, and Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Will Bates (@FallOnYourSword)
Will Bates is a multi-instrumentalist, award-winning composer and founder of the music production company Fall On Your Sword. Bates has composed original scores for a myriad of filmmakers including acclaimed directors Mike Cahill (Another Earth, I Origins), Alex Gibney (We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley), Matt Ross (28 Hotel Rooms) and Dan Ragussis (Imperium). Bates also recently scored several TV series including The Magicians, The Path, Chance, The Looming Tower and Nightflyers, as well as the feature film The Sound of Silence directed by Michael Tyburski. His current projects include the second season of Sweetbitter for Starz, along with Netflix’s Unbelievable.

John Andrew Grush (Andy) and Taylor Newton Stewart are collectively known as The Newton Brothers; who are notable composers, producers, conductors and multi-instrumentalists. Andy and Taylor have been scoring films together for over 10 years, catching their big break scoring Tony Kaye’s acclaimed drama, Detachment. The duo is best known for their scores in the psycho-horror thriller genre in motion pictures such as: Oculus, Gerald’s Game, The Bye Bye Man and Ouija: Origin of Evil. Most recently, they scored Netflix’s new science fiction thriller, Extinction. In addition to scoring the film, they also wrote the end title song, Don’t Wake Me Up featuring popstar JoJo. The Newton Brother’s latest collaborations include Blumhouse and Hulu’s Into the Dark, and Mike Flanagan and Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV and Paramount TV. Their upcoming projects include the horror film Mary and the crime drama The Knife Thrower.
