This week Sea World HOWL-O-SCREAM San Diego announced their first maze over social media. NIGHTMARE EXPERIMENT will invite guests to a lab where a fiendish doctor is provoking terror by exposing his subjects to relentless terrors. Full Description and video below.

This lab’s secret project has descended into chaos, with the experiment’s subjects driven into their worst nightmares by the sadistic staff. You could end up as the next volunteer if you can’t find an escape before The Doctor finds you.

At first pass, it is notable that this first maze has no tie to the maritime theme of the park. This isn’t a journey to the depths of the sea, it’s a pretty straightforward concept of an insane scientist/doctor who is torturing victims. The basic premise aside, we are eager to see what the creatives at HOWL-O-SCREAM do for their first original maze ever at SeaWorld San Diego. If past visits to Busch Gardens Tampa’s HOWL-O-SCREAM are any indication, we are in for a treat. The haunted houses we experienced there felt like a weird hybrid of Knott’s originality, Fright Fest’s scrappy charm, with patches of Universal’s production value. We are excited to see what rises from the murky depths.
