Last night Warner Bros. Pictures premiered David Sanberg’s stab at the Conjuring Universe with Annabelle Creation. The new movie, which is a prequel to the to Annabelle (2014) centers on the origin of the creep-as-hell doll, the tragedy that bore its darkness, and the unfortunate group of people that attempt to stop it.
Uncle Mike will have a review up soon enough (Spoiler alert: It is one of the best films horror films of 2017 so far). But while the premiere was happening, Warner Bros. also decided to debut a new trailer and poster for the upcoming horror flick.
From New Line Cinema comes âAnnabelle: Creation,â with David F. Sandberg (âLights Outâ) helming the follow up to 2014âs hugely successful âAnnabelle,â which scared up nearly $257 million at the worldwide box office during its run in theaters. The new film is once again being produced by Peter Safran and James Wan, who previously partnered on âThe Conjuringâ hit movies.
In âAnnabelle: Creation,â several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home. They soon become the target of the doll makerâs possessed creation, Annabelle.
Sandberg directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman, who also wrote âAnnabelle.â The film stars Stephanie Sigman (âSpectreâ), Talitha Bateman (âThe 5th Waveâ), Lulu Wilson (âOuija 2,â âDeliver Us from Evilâ), Philippa Coulthard (âAfter the Darkâ), Grace Fulton (âBadlandâ), Lou Lou Safran (âThe Choiceâ), Samara Lee (âFoxcatcher,â âThe Last Witch Hunterâ), and Tayler Buck in her feature film debut, with Anthony LaPaglia (TVâs âWithout a Traceâ) and Miranda Otto (Showtimeâs âHomeland,â âThe Lord of the Ringsâ Trilogy). Serving as executive producers on âAnnabelle: Creationâ are Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter and Hans Ritter.
Collaborating with Sandberg behind-the-scenes from his âLights Outâ team are production designer Jennifer Spence, editor Michel Aller and composer Benjamin Wallfisch, joined by director of photography Maxime Alexandre (âThe Other Side of the Doorâ) and costume designer Leah Butler (âParanormal Activity 3 & 4â).
