Horror history in the making has been etched in the stone tablet of time, as Shockfest Film Festival honored the legendary filmmaker, writer and icon Clive Barker November 22nd – 24th in Las Vegas, NV. Though Clive has been in attendance for numerous conventions, this past weekend made for his first appearance at a film festival in nearly a decade. In response to this rare appearance, Shockfest honored his presence with a private screening of his legendary film, Candyman, alongside presenting him with the highly prestigious Shocker Award received previously by filmmaker/actor Eli Roth.
The festival took place in Las Vegas at Hotel Paranormal, an interactive game and escape rooms created by Festival Creator, Guil Claveria. Throughout the weekend, guests competed amongst each other by playing the card game for the opportunity to win a check worth $666 and a custom-designed spirit board created by the founder of Burbank’s very own The Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum, Eric Wessel.
Shockfest held sold-out screenings for both Award-Winning Director Pearry Teo’s newest film, THE ASSENT and for Director Brandon Slagle and Producer Devanny Pinn’s THE DAWN. Both films came out of Shockfest weekend earning their own award wins, which are included within the following 13 categories.
