Dark Star Pictures is bringing a new twist to holiday horror with the release of Carnage for Christmas on Digital and On-Demand platforms starting October 22. Directed by Alice Maio Mackay, this queer horror film centers on Lola, a transwoman and true-crime podcaster, who returns to her conservative hometown for the first time since her transition. The holiday homecoming takes a deadly turn when a notorious local urban legend, The Toymaker, seems to come back to life, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake.

Lola must confront both the town’s judgment and the vengeful spirit linked to her past in this unique blend of horror and holiday themes. Carnage for Christmas is the latest project from Mackay, a trans director known for fusing horror with camp, with visual effects and editing by fellow genre filmmaker Vera Drew (The People’s Joker). The film features a diverse cast including Jeremy Moineau, Dominque Booth, Zarif, Olivia Deeble, Joe Romeo, and Betsey Brown.
