Horrorbuzz got the oppportunity to experience Hulu’s “Castle Rock” during San Diego Comic Con. This activation was expansive, thrilling and everything you would expect from the quintessential author of horror, Stephen King.

The activation took guests through several vignettes, most of which were based on King’s popular novels/stories.

Beginning with checking in at the Castle Rock Bed and Breakfast, guests were then ushered into private rooms and when the doors closed behind them, the nightmare started. We ended up in room 30265.

Befuddled guests were then filtered into an open space with a great underwater effect as a chilling figure steps out of the shadows. A red balloon eerily floats near a crashed car.

It gets creepier as we wind our way through the activation. With plenty of references to King’s stories like Cujo, Shawshank, the Shining and others that weren’t familiar to me.

It was like getting to experience a theme park Halloween maze and we loved it!

You’ll get a chance to find out why the small town of Castle Rock looks perfect on the outside but on the inside, it’s something sinister and evil.

Castle Rock debuts on Hulu July 25th with a giant cast including Bill Skarsgard, Sissy Spacek, Scott Glenn, Jane Levy and so many more.
