I don’t consider myself one for conspiracies. I’m a scientific skeptic, and basically always have been. If Dana Scully had tattoos and made movies, she’d be me. There are some questions, however, that will forever fascinate me. The idea of something bigger than us, or something outside of us, for example. The idea of group consciousness. The vast unknown of our universe, and what, or who, could be out there. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND takes all of those questions and adds a thousand more, with awe-inspiring wonder.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND is a documentary highlighting the extensive work of Ufologist Dr. Steven Greer. Greer is best known as the founder of the Center for the Study of Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (CSETI). He has spent decades of his life hoping to be able to make meaningful contact with extraterrestrial lifeforms. In doing so, he has coined a new kind of alien encounters, which he refers to as Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind, or CE-5. Greer specifies these encounters as human initiated contact, or actual communication with alien life. Greer uses techniques like Transcendental Meditation to communicate with extraterrestrials, and is working to teach anyone who wants to listen his “protocols” for making contact. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND is a call to action for anyone who believes.

Spirituality, skepticism, science, and complete amazement are all key ingredients to the delicious concoction that is CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND. Dr. Greer is himself strong, comforting, and stoic in his deliverance of the wildest thoughts imaginable. He has made a career of speaking about this to groups, but he also has done the work and research. His knowledge and expertise are unmatched. Focusing mainly on his experience, intercut with remarkable interviews and footage describing CE-5s. Even the most skeptical among us will find it hard to ignore the overwhelming, inspiring evidence Dr. Greer presents.

The film also presents compelling evidence of government cover ups, FBI and CIA intelligence, political involvement, and so much more. The evidence that is presented is not sensationalized, and is rather presented as fact and part of the overarching tone of Dr. Greer’s message. This plays into the overall success of the film – it doesn’t feel conspiratorial. Everything is presented as a simple fact, and something exciting and wonderful. In a world of fear-mongering and “fake news”, this is beautifully refreshing.

Thoroughly engaging, and marvelously intelligent, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND touches the believer inside all of us. Regardless of what you believe, or what your scientific mind tells you, you will be moved by the absolute electric energy of Dr. Greer and the people who work with him. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH TIME is a compelling masterwork of a documentary, and I’m hopeful it will go on to touch the lives of thousands… or approximately 75 million.
