We have more news on the hotly anticipated series Decorum! The eight-issue sci-fi series will kick off Wednesday, March 11th featuring two covers from series artist Mike Huddleston and one special edition cover from Jamie McKelvie (The Wicked + The Divine, The Killing Horizon). Image Comics has released the McKelvie cover, with eye-popping vibrant color and intricate line work:
For those who haven’t followed our previous coverage on Decorum, there’s been very little released about the concept save for the synopsis on Image’s website: There are many assassins in the known universe. This is the story of the most well-mannered one.“Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what knife you use.” Based on the previous art released for the series (which you can find here) it’s safe to assume the series features some elements of historical fiction in addition to a unique and incredibly stylish sci-fi aesthetic. The emphasis on manners is particularly interesting– they’re definitely a focus of the series, but the role they play is yet to be explored.
Decorum comes from the minds of writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Mike Huddleston. Hickman’s recent work includes House of X, Powers of X, and East of West– according to Image, this new series will blend the event level storytelling of Hickman’s X series with the expansive worldbuilding of East of West. Huddleston’s art for the series is already top-notch and between the covers we’ve seen and the premise itself, I’m getting a bit of a Saga vibe, which is more than welcome. Keep an eye out for more news and the release of Issue #1 on March 11th!
