Who doesn’t want Friday the 13th to be a spooky, fun-filled evening? Thankfully, the folks over at Drunken Devil have got you covered this year, as their fabulous To Live and Di(n)e in LA returns on April 13th after two incredibly successful outings last year.
Following in the same spirit as its predecessors, this version of To Live and Di(n)e in LA will still sitting down for dinner with some of the most infamous figures of Los Angeles’ true crime history, but with some new surprises in store, including a revamped script, additional characters, and new performances.
“Our previous two editions of To Live and Di(n)e in LA were massively successful,” says Matt Dorado, Creator and Executive Producer of Drunken Devil, “and as our company grows, I’m thrilled to be able to grow and expand this show.”
In To Live and Di(n)e in LA, guests will literally dine with the dead, as they come face-to-face with Elizabeth Short, better known as the Black Dahlia; Harvey Glatman, infamously nicknamed the “Glamour Girl Slayer” for his harrowing methods of killing aspiring young models in the late 1950s; and Richard Ramirez, also known as the “Night Stalker,” who terrorized suburban Los Angeles for years.
In previous editions, Susan Atkins appeared by herself as a manifestation of the Sharon Tate murders; for this next edition, she is joined by Charles Manson, presenting an entirely new, harrowing twist to the show’s narrative. “I had to really think about whether or not to include Manson in the show,” says Dorado. “Now that he’s deceased, we decided to have his persona will appear at the dinner table, and delve deep into the psychological frenzy that he represented.”
The menu will be created by Christena Quinn, executive chef of Brack Shop Tavern. Dorado has an ongoing relationship with Quinn, as the two collaborate monthly on the Drunken Devil Deviled Eggs: Burlesque Brunch series in Downtown LA.
Each course will be based off of a different figure and different era, with thematically appropriate cocktails paired to each dish. “For example, as you sip cocktails and enjoy hors d’oeuvres inspired by the Black Dahlia and frenzy of the city circa 1947, you’ll be mingling with Elizabeth Short and her supposed killer, George Hodel. Then, you’ll sit down for the first course and find yourself in 1958, as Harvey Glatman’s story unfolds before you,” says Dorado. “The food interweaves with the theatrical and interactive elements, creating an entirely unique narrative experience.”
In between courses, guests will experience dark burlesque, performance art and more that will help guide the the story. “Theatrical, cabaret-type performances are integral to the Drunken Devil experience, and we are pleased to have new and returning acts to this edition of the show, creating an entirely new experience for patrons,” Dorado says.
Guests will be required to sign a waiver of consent, as some of the interactive moments may involve contact with actors. Audience members should also note that To Live and Di(n)e in LA explores mature subject matter including violence and disturbing sexual content.
The event will be taking place at a secret location, to be revealed in the days before experience. The show begins with a cocktail hour at 7:30pm. Tickets are $175.00 each and include the four-course meal, cocktails, unlimited table wine and beer, and performances. Only 35 tickets are available. 21+.
