After an unprecedented closure lasting more than a year, magic is returning to the Disneyland Resort as it prepares to reopen! Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are scheduled to officially reopen at a limited capacity on April 30, 2021. The hotels of the Disneyland Resort are also gearing up to welcome back guests. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen on April 29, 2021 (with limited capacity). Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will plan to reopen May 2, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel will reopen at a later date.
“The day all of us have long been waiting for is almost here,” said Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort. “We’re excited to have more than 10,000 cast members returning to work as we get ready to welcome our guests back to this happy place.”
Once again, guests will be welcomed to that happy place filled with magic and wonder, with unforgettable attractions, delicious treats (aka dole whips!), beloved characters, and dazzling entertainment. Disney has also sprinkled a little extra pixie dust around the park, bringing to life new experiences and surprises.
The reimagined Snow White’s Enchanted Wish will debut to guests for the very first time upon reopening. See vibrant new shadow projections as the dwarfs march off to the mine happily singing “Heigh Ho,” with shimmering effects that make the mine sparkle. Be on the lookout for the Queen’s den complete with a new library of spell books, glowing potions, and bubbling flasks.
Though experiences that draw large crowds (fireworks, parades, etc.) will return at a later date, your favorite Disney pals are ready to greet you with a smile and a wave with new socially distances interaction opportunities. Surprise appearances on Main Street U.S.A. and Pixar Pier mean any character can pop up at any time and in new ways!
Due to governmental requirements regarding physical distancing, theme park capacity will be significantly limited and masks will be required for all guests over the age of 2 regardless of vaccination status. To accommodate the capacity limitations, a new theme park reservation system will be put in place that requires all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines.
