The Haunted Attraction Association (HAA), an international organization of haunt professionals of all levels, has announced its newest board member: Spencer Terry, of Fear Factory in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The HAA board of directors are all volunteers, and “embody the passion and spirit of our industry, reflect our standards of safety, and bring invigorating talent, expertise and energy to both our association, and our industry overall,” said Brett Molitor, HAA’s President.
Terry comes highly qualified for the position. In addition to currently being General Manager of Fear Factory, he created the Gateway of Chaos Haunted House in Iowa, and has been an avid home haunter since he was a child. He has worked nearly 20 years in the hospitality, non-profit, retail and corporate human resources fields.
His education in business and human resources allows him to be a valuable part of the team at Fear Factory, a leading attraction in the industry. “Spencer is a valuable asset to the Fear Factory and we’re excited that he’ll be able to share his talents … with other industry leaders,” said Rob Dunfield, Fear Factory founder and COO. “This is a tremendous honor for both Spencer and the Fear Factory.”
In the time he has been on the Fear Factory team, it has achieved many awards and high placements on lists of scariest attractions, including BuzzFeed’s Top 23 Scariest Haunts in the World, as well as earning the Legendary Haunt Award in 2018 and HAA Board of Directors Award in 2019.
Globally, there are over 4,000 haunted attractions, including professional haunts, mazes, scare parks, home haunts and escape rooms. Terry says he keeps track of up to 200 haunts in the region, and focuses on improving networking within the industry as well as supporting HAA’s programs of support, education and safety, important parts of their mission, and something Fear Factory has become a trailblazer for within the industry.
Joining Terry on the Board of Directors are Allen Hopps, Alex Rodriguez and Cody Bailey.
Fear Factory is located on 2.5 acres in downtown Salt Lake City, and features a post-apocalyptic setting with underground tunnels, towers, and mazes. For more information visit www.fearfactoryslc.com.
