Amelia Joyce and Roberta Sparta are set to host the Second Annual Femme Fatal Film Festival on Sunday, October 27th, at the Cinelounge on Sunset Blvd. This year, the festival continues its mission of providing a platform for female filmmakers to showcase their work in the horror and science fiction genres. The event will begin with a red carpet at 7:30 PM, followed by screenings at 8:00 PM.
Femme Fatal was launched last year to amplify underrepresented voices in filmmaking. What started as a private screening for “FROGGY,” an eco-horror short film written and directed by Joyce and produced by Sparta, evolved into a larger celebration of women in horror. The inaugural event featured six short films, each followed by a Q&A with cast and crew members, and was met with positive reception, prompting the founders to expand the festival for its second year.
Joining Joyce and Sparta once again is Sarah Phillips, cinematographer and founder of She-Crew, who returns as a sponsor and host for this year’s event. The festival encourages submissions from female filmmakers looking to reach a wider audience, with a continued focus on building a community that uplifts and supports diverse voices in the film industry.
