Horror fans are in for a treat this August as the first teaser trailer for SCREAMBOAT is set to make its exclusive debut in theaters. The teaser will be shown before screenings of the new horror film Stream from August 21st to 25th, offering audiences the first look at this twisted reimagining of Steamboat Willie.
SCREAMBOAT, directed by Steven LaMorte, brings a darkly humorous twist to Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse character, transforming the classic tale into a nightmarish horror-comedy. The film follows a group of New Yorkers on a seemingly peaceful late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous and murderous mouse embarks on a violent rampage. What begins as a relaxing commute quickly descends into a harrowing battle for survival.
The film features David Howard Thornton, star of the Terrifier series, as the chilling lead. Joining him in the cast are Allison Pittel (Stream), Amy Schumacher (The Mean One), Jesse Posey (Teen Wolf), Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), Rumi C Jean-Louis (Hightown), and horror veterans Jarlath Conroy (George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead) and Charles Edwin Powell (The Exorcist III).
Director Steven LaMorte expressed his excitement about the teaser’s debut, saying, “I’m thrilled to unveil the first teaser for SCREAMBOAT in theaters with Stream. Working with David Howard Thornton again has been incredible, and I can’t wait for audiences to see our mischievous take on Steamboat Willie. This teaser is just a taste of the terror and laughs to come.”
The film’s creature effects are being crafted by Quantum Creation FX, Inc., led by Christian Beckman, with creature design by concept artist Christian Cordella. A blend of practical effects, miniatures, and advanced virtual production techniques will bring the terrifying yet whimsical mouse to life in all his gory glory.
Produced by Amy Schumacher, Martine Melloul, Steven LaMorte, Steven Della Salla, and Michael Leavy, with executive production by Kali Pictures, Sleight of Hand Productions, Reckless Content, and Julien Didon, SCREAMBOAT is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2025, distributed by Iconic Events Releasing.
Meanwhile, Stream will premiere on August 21st in theaters across the U.S. and Canada, promising a high-octane horror experience that includes both the full-length feature and the exclusive SCREAMBOAT teaser.
