From the deliciously dark and twisted minds at Blumhouse Productions comes a pitch-black horror-comedy about a slasher, a senior, and the killer truth about high school. Freaky is a fresh twist on a familiar tale, and it’s slashing its way to theaters this November! The poster and trailer have been dropped ahead of the November release!
Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) is just trying to survive the bloodthirsty halls of Blissfield High and the cruelty of the popular crowd. But when she becomes the newest target of The Butcher (Vince Vaughn), her town’s infamous serial killer, her senior year becomes the least of her worries. When The Butcher’s mystical ancient dagger causes him and Millie to wake up in each other’s bodies, Millie learns that she has just 24 hours to get her body back before the switch becomes permanent and she’s trapped in the form of a middle-aged maniac forever. The only problem is she now looks like a towering psychopath who’s the target of a city-wide manhunt while The Butcher discovers that looking like Millie is the perfect cover for a little down-home killing spree.
I really enjoyed Happy Death Day. It had the perfect amounts of humor and horror making it a spooky movie staple and I think Freaky has the same potential. It knows it’s not a standard horror movie, and that creates an opportunity for some laugh-worthy moments, clever dialogue, and fun action sequences, all of which we see in the trailer. Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton were great picks to lead the film and I will definitely be in the theaters, popcorn in hand, in November to see how this bloody reimagining of a classic story plays out.
Directed by Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon, Freaky stars Kathryn Newton (Blockers, HBO’s Big Little Lies), Vince Vaughn, Celeste O’Connor, Misha Osherovich, Uriah Shelton, Dana Drori, Katie Finneran, and Alan Ruck. Look for it in theaters Friday (how appropriate) November 13!
