Freestyle Digital Media, the distribution arm of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has secured VOD rights to the supernatural horror film PIPER. The film will be available for rent and purchase on North American digital HD platforms, including internet, cable, and satellite, starting November 12, 2024. DVD copies will also be released on the same day.

PIPER, directed by Anthony Waller (Mute Witness), reimagines a chilling children’s legend in the form of a supernatural horror-fantasy. The story centers around Émigré Liz, played by Elizabeth Hurley (Bedazzled, Austin Powers), who moves to a seemingly peaceful German town with her daughter, Amy. However, their fresh start takes a dark turn when Liz’s past secrets draw the attention of the vengeful Piper—a supernatural figure who exacts harsh retribution on those who have evaded justice by targeting their children.

As Amy’s life is endangered, Liz must confront the grim reality of the Piper’s judgment. Amy finds an unlikely ally in Luca, a mysterious street magician, who may be her only hope of escaping the Piper’s wrath. The narrative explores themes of love, vengeance, guilt, and generational consequences.

The cast also includes Mia Jenkins (Hanna), Jack Stewart (Outlander), Tara Fitzgerald (Brassed Off), Ryan Webber (The Funhouse Massacre), and Robert Daws (The Man Who Fell to Earth). The film’s story, originally conceived by Duncan Kennedy, was brought to the screen by producers Gleb Fetisov, Alexander Buchman, and Anthony Waller.

Anthony Waller shared his inspiration for the film, highlighting his interest in merging a historical legend with contemporary themes. “The idea of transforming a children’s fairy tale into a dark and multi-layered contemporary story has always fascinated me,” Waller stated. He emphasized the film’s exploration of how events can be interpreted, leaving audiences to question whether they are witnessing a supernatural curse or a carefully orchestrated local manipulation.
