Freestyle Digital Media, a division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired the North American VOD rights to Samson, a dark comedy-thriller set to release on digital platforms and DVD on November 29, 2024. The film promises an intriguing blend of suspense and humor, told through a fractured narrative and multiple perspectives.
Samson revolves around ex-couple Emma and Dale, who find themselves forced to collaborate after being kidnapped by masked men, Drew and Joe. The story unfolds with a mix of dark comedy and tension, drawing comparisons to Reservoir Dogs but with a Shakespearean twist, complete with a musical number.
Directed by Ruth Du, who co-wrote the screenplay with David Harry Yoon, Samson explores complex themes through a unique cinematic lens. Du emphasized her interest in portraying characters who defy initial impressions and weaving a narrative about race that doesn’t explicitly center on the topic. The film’s cast includes Alice Lee as Emma, Ryan Dance as Dale, Will Brittain as Drew, and Emilio Garcia-Sanchez as Joe. Cinematographer Justin Alpern contributed to the film’s visual storytelling, while producers Ashley Cohen and Claire Brooks supported its creation.
Samson will be available on North American digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms, as well as on DVD, offering viewers a chance to experience this unconventional narrative starting November 29.
