Horror enthusiasts at SXSW have reported sightings of Frendo, the unsettling clown from the upcoming film Clown in a Cornfield. Directed by Eli Craig and starring Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand, this adaptation of Adam Cesare’s novel arrives in theaters nationwide on May 9, 2025.
Set in Kettle Springs, the story follows Quinn and her father as they relocate to what seems like a peaceful small town. Instead, they find a divided community still reeling from the destruction of the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. Tensions reach a breaking point when a grinning figure emerges from the cornfields, targeting residents one by one. With the screenplay by Carter Blanchard and Eli Craig, Clown in a Cornfield promises a tense confrontation between innocent newcomers and a lethal clown lurking on the outskirts of town.
