Have you ever wanted to make a horror film? Do you have a great concept that you think would be a killer movie? Well, now may be your chance to see it on the big screen.
Introducing the Maine Horror Challenge, a unique new competition where a team of talented filmmakers have the location, the time, and the funds…and all they are missing is YOUR story.

The Maine Horror Challenge is an open submission Horror screenwriting competition where YOU can submit a log line, treatment, and eventual feature length screenplay, set in the forest cabins of upstate Maine (our location). Your story will be produced and made into a feature film in the Summer of 2018!
Based on their photos, they really DO have a perfect location in the forests of Maine on a desolate lake; one that would be the perfect setting for a horror film.
The director of the Maine Horror Challenge is Roy Finch, who not only loves horror films and is great filmmaker, but he is also a professor at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. Joining him on this journey is none other than Tom McLoughlin, whom most of you will know as the writer/director of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.
Right now, they are accepting log lines and synopses (of 500 words or less), and will be doing so until March 31st. From there, they will begin having the ones they like best developed into 10 page treatments, until picking one to go into scripting by the middle of June.

“We are fortunate enough to have a group of cabins, built between 70-100 years ago on a pristine lake in a remote section of the state. This compound has so much character that it is screaming for a horror movie to be made there,” says Roy Finch.
Honestly, this is an incredibly awesome idea. On top of that, knowing Roy personally, and knowing his love of the horror genre, I think this is something that will really take off. The team behind it is solid, and I am sure whatever script they choose, it will be an amazing film.
