Things got quiet there for a bit but we are back and filled with great Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights news dripping with happy horror goodness this week. After about two weeks of  near radio silence, Universal Studios Hollywood announced a brand new maze. John Murdy took to Twitter and followed up yesterdays announcement with a Q and A session too that we have used to fill in a few more facts in the article today. Meanwhile the summer months are heating up and we while away the heat, dreaming of scares hidden in the darkness. Let’s catch up on the Halloween Horror Nights News, shall we?

Upper Lot

Still not too much happening up in here. But the weather is heating up which means one thing. The water playground at Super Silly Funland is a popular spot.

MAZE 4 Waterworld Queue

It was confirmed by Murdy, through the @HorrorNights twitter account, that a maze will be taking up residence in the Waterworld queue again. Of course, exactly WHAT the maze is was left for speculation.

Starway

The widening of the Starway to the Lower Lot is moving along pretty fast. All four awnings are now being extended with panels of glass already being installed in some places.

The Shining • Maze #2

We check on the progress at The Shining now. At this point we will not really get to see too much as the majority of the maze is covered in black tent. That’s to keep the evil in. During a Q & A sesh on Twitter Murdy was asked why the maze begins in the hedge maze. He deflected asking how we KNOW it’s the hedge maze. That’s not a denial folks.

In fact I will go further and say it looks a lot like the maze will end in the hedge maze too. Look at the pics below. The same type of arch that starts the maze is seen being built toward the end in a more claustrophobic final cluster of walls.

The front of the maze.

The clump of twists and turns at the end of the maze with a conspicuous arch still in development.

Jurassic Park Extended Queue

We pop over to the Jurassic Park extended queue for a look at the maze progress here. A facade has sprung up in the last two weeks, indicating this might be a residential home facade. Let’s keep our eyes and ears open kids!

Maze 3: American Horror Story: Your Roanoke Nightmare

In what was seen as a foregone conclusion, Universal Studios Hollywood announces the return of FX’s critically-acclaimed, Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning television series “American Horror Story,” bringing Ryan Murphy’s demented “Roanoke” installment to life at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights” event, beginning Friday, September 15, 2017.

Differing from the Orlando counterpart, the Universal Studios Hollywood version of this year’s American Horror Story maze will focus exclusively on season six. American Horror Story: Roanoke will unearth the twisted legacy of The Lost Colony of Roanoke, transporting guests to the haunted backwoods of North Carolina where they will experience the terror that has tormented the town for centuries.

Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood and Executive Producer of “Halloween Horror Nights,” John Murdy  tweeted his reasons for focusing strictly on Roanoke…

The all-new disturbing maze, reimagined in acute and disturbing details, will unmask a cast of deranged killers, from the cannibalistic Polk family who subsist by feeding upon innocent victims to The Butcher who thrives on human sacrifices. Trapped in a vicious circle of evil and murder, guests will find themselves in a life or death battle to outrun the nightmare of Roanoke before the vindictive spirits and demented killers who soak the earth with the blood of their victims.

As for the location, Murdy again tweets that deet…

Short and sweet yes, but current. So let’s recap. We will be getting The Shining, American Horror Story: Your Roanoke Nightmare, a brand new Terror Tram, and all new scare zones.
