With the weekend coming to a close and the cinematic numbers coming in we decided to take a look at the critical and commercial success of other horror sequels with the help of our friends at Rotten Tomatoes.
As we close out the President’s Day weekend we see that HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U is currently holding a 63% Fresh rate on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s not too bad for a sequel whose predecessor held a 71% rating. However, the film has only taken in $11.4 million, almost half of what tracking anticipated. That is surprising considering how word of mouth on the movie is extremely positive. You can read our review here.
Rotten Tomatoes has kindly provided us with a list of sequels and their ratings to see how they stack up against the original films.
