Happy’s Halloween is a minute long short film depicting a desire to fulfill a dream in the form of a need. It doesn’t take much to tell such a story, but the outcome is bigger than the height of our little friend. The description I have given of the short is longer than the video itself, but it’s quite fitting for the purpose of this review.

Once upon a time there was a little Halloween decoration in the form of a ghost named Happy. Their biggest wish was to own a pumpkin pail like many kids when trick-or-treating. Every time Happy saw a person in costume carrying around one, their desire got bigger. As time passes by, Happy finally decides to search for a pumpkin to own. But, how can it be?

There’s not much to say about it because it’s a simple short with a single message– sometimes our goals can only be fulfilled when we decide to take action. If we stay put, set ourselves aside while taking a seat on the bleachers and watch life pass by, we won’t be able to achieve anything. But, you may sense there’s also some greed to it if you ask yourself “why would someone need a pumpkin pail so badly? Is it because everyone has one or could it be a representation of wanting something you’ll momentarily enjoy?”

In the end, Happy’s Halloween can be interpreted from whichever side of the mirror you look from. It can reflect a personal humane feeling or a portrayal of society’s ambition. If it were up to me to give it a meaning, I would be entitled to do so. Therefore, I leave this decision for the viewer to play it, enjoy it, hate it, or shred it to pieces to analyze or criticize it.
