SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream returns for its fifth anniversary this fall, bringing new haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment. Running select nights from September 12 through November 1, the separately ticketed event promises an expanded lineup of in-house designed attractions and experiences.

Reimagined Haunted Houses

Two popular haunted houses have been completely redesigned for 2025. Nightmare Experiment: Sweet DreamzZz transforms an asylum into a testing ground for a pharmaceutical company’s dangerous sleep aid, while Deathwater Bayou: Awakening takes guests into a cursed Louisiana swamp where witches conjure an ancient deity.

They join returning houses with new twists, including

  • Circus of the Damned
  • Simon’s Slaughterhouse
  • Area 64: Alien Outbreak

New Scare Zones and Outdoor Frights

This year introduces Overgrowth, a greenhouse gone wrong where mutant plants prey on visitors. Returning scare zones include Ripper Row, Deadly Toys, and Carnival of Chaos, each filled with roaming characters designed to keep guests on edge.

Vile Vignettes and Live Entertainment

Vile Vignettes, short-form horror stories performed throughout the park, expand with two new tales: Summon the Spirits and Dolly Delightful. Fan favorites Dark Magic and Misfortune also return.

Back by demand, the stage show Monster Stomp on Ripper Row blends percussion, vocals, and theatrical visuals into a gothic rock interpretation of Jack the Ripper’s London.

Ticket Information

Guests can currently take advantage of the Monster Sale, with discounts up to 65% and tickets starting at $32.99. Sale pricing ends August 17. More details, including themed food, bars, and hidden speakeasies, will be announced soon.
