Geffen Playhouse is proud to announce the full cast for the highly anticipated world premiere production of The Ants. This captivating play, written by Ramiz Monsef (known for ‘The Unfortunates,’ ‘3 Farids’) and directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh (renowned for ‘Vietgone,’ ‘Queen’), promises to take audiences on a gripping journey.
The talented ensemble cast includes Hugo Armstrong (‘Power of Sail,’ ‘Fear the Walking Dead’) as The Brain, Nicky Boulos (‘New Amsterdam,’ ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’) as Nami, Megan Hill (‘The Brightest Thing in the World,’ ‘Eddie and Dave’) as Meredith, Jeremy Radin (‘The Way Back,’ ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’) as The Pizza Guy, and Ryan Shrime (‘Pam and Tommy,’ ‘On My Block’) as Shahid.
In ‘The Ants, the story unfolds in a breathtaking house on a hill—a sanctuary protected by cutting-edge security. Nami, who has recently been fired and evicted, seeks refuge at his brother and sister-in-law’s luxurious abode. However, their haven turns into a prison when a violent uprising outside leaves them trapped within the supposedly impenetrable fortress. This thrilling play combines horror elements with darkly humorous social commentary, questioning society’s obsession with personal security over investing in our shared humanity.
Created as part of Geffen Playhouse’s The Writers’ Room program, The Ants showcases the artistic talents of Los Angeles playwrights who receive support and guidance from the Geffen Playhouse artistic team. The world premiere production of The Ants is made possible through the generous support of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Production Fund.
