Long before horror films and haunts, people had to get their horror kicks in other ways. I’ve always loved the old-school methods of giving someone a good scare and admired their creativity. I was also bummed that I wasn’t born in that time frame to be able to experience some of that stuff, and it seems like my prays have been answered!

HERE THE BIRDS BURN is a new immersive show from Stephanie Delazeri that aims to bring back that early form of entertainment, to help show modern day audiences how lovers of the macabre did it way back when. Using Phantasmagoria, a form of early horror theater, the show will use magic lanterns and conjure optical illusions ghosts to blur the lines of science and magic.

Incorporating working authentic 18th & 19th century magic lanterns with hand painted glass slides, along with being joined by fellow period-era theater guests, this immersive performance will transport you back to the 1830s. Performed at the Heritage Square Museum, guests will traverse through multiple Victorian-era historical homes throughout the performance.

Out of respect for the day, they ask you only wear black as you conjure the spirits.

The show is 18+ only and will take place February 7-9, 13-16, 20-23, 2020 at the Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles. Performance run time will be approximately one hour and 10 minutes.
