It’s not every day you can experience an immersive performance from the comfort of your own home, but this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival will do just that with One Brief Moment Of Joy.
The experience aims to focus on positivity and the act of seeking joy in everyday moments while promoting self-discovery and playfulness. The show itself will run for twelve people a night, for four evenings, over the course of Hollywood Fringe, but people attending in person can expect their experience to go beyond that. Prior to their performance date, an empathetic interview will be conducted to help guests create their new member character before being invited into filmmaker E.K. Verlaine’s “Moments of Joy” creative session at their private bungalow where they will discover the secrets of OBMOJ’s inner circle and uncover hidden truths about themselves.
In addition, there will be a free livestream experience for people who wish to watch from home. As part of Fringe’s mission this year to expand accessibility to shows, people will be able to tune into these creative sessions and collect “Moments of Joy” on their weekly bingo cards and possibly win some joy of their own. However, should you choose to opt for more interactivity, donations will control the camera’s lens and unlock more of the live Fringe experience.
For someone who is always telling my friends about the immersive shows I attend, this is an incredible idea, and a great way for someone who can’t get out to them to experience in their own way. Kudos to the OBMOJ team for this wonderful idea!
Tickets are $50 for the live experience, and donation based if you wished to control the livestream. The show will run June 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30PM.
