Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution branch of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired North American VOD rights to the supernatural documentary IT’S COMING. The documentary will be available for rent or purchase starting November 12, 2024, on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms, as well as on DVD.
IT’S COMING has already made waves as an official selection of the Hot Docs Film Festival. The film follows Ashley Roland-White, a Brooklyn-based day trader and mother of five, as she recounts decades of encounters with a sinister paranormal presence. Though she was skeptical and kept these experiences private for fear of being doubted or dismissed, Ashley can no longer remain silent when her children become the targets of these haunting forces.
Described as blending the intensity of Paranormal Activity with the investigative style of Demon House, IT’S COMING offers a raw and compelling look at real-life supernatural phenomena. Directed by Shannon Alexander, the documentary presents unsettling moments, including paranormal activity captured on film. These events include a boom mic inexplicably lunging at Ashley, shadows caught on night vision, and footage of a crouching figure near the family’s television, detected using a Kinect camera by retired NYPD officer and paranormal investigator Chris DeFlorio.
Director Shannon Alexander emphasizes the rising cultural fascination with exorcisms and the paranormal. “With IT’S COMING, I wanted to document real-life cases, particularly the ten percent that experts consider authentic,” Alexander explains. The film provides a unique narrative perspective through the eyes of a mother desperate to protect her family from an unseen threat.
