Malignant is the latest creation from James Wan, who brought us the Conjuring universe, Saw, and Insidious. Now, Wan seeks out to terrify audiences with bone-chilling visions and a malicious (not so) imaginary friend. The official trailer and poster have been released ahead of the film’s September premiere!
Synopsis: Madison is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.
Review of Trailer: Malignant has definitely grabbed my attention. James Wan is great at taking classic horror tropes and putting a new spin on them. With Insidious, we saw a haunted house that wasn’t really a haunted house. And with Malignant, I think there is a chance we will see a haunted past story that has more layers than audiences plan for. We can expect the unexpected with Malignant, and we can also expect some killer sets and sequences from the looks of things. It is definitely on the watch list!
Malignant is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious) and stars Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, The Mummy), Maddie Hasson (YouTube’s “Impulse,” Mr. Mercedes), George Young (Containment), Michole Briana White (Black Mafia Family, Dead to Me), Jacqueline McKenzie (Palm Beach, Reckoning), Jake Abel (Supernatural, the Percy Jackson films) and Ingrid Bisu (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun). The film will be released on September 10, 2021 in theaters across America and on HBO Max for 31 days from the theatrical release.
