Fall film festival season is upon us, and with it come so many intriguing and artistic films that wow audiences but that might not otherwise be viewed on the big screen. One stand out film currently making its rounds is the short KEEP THE GASLIGHT BURNING, a sinister Gothic short film by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Dave Elsey and Lou Elsey.
This delightfully wicked 18-minute film stars Markie Post (Night Court and Chicago P.D.), Kate Armstrong Ross and, legendary horror makeup designer Rick Baker. Dave Elsey is an Oscar® winner for Best Makeup for THE WOLFMAN and creator of makeup and creature effects for such legendary films as STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
KEEP THE GASLIGHT BURNING has been named the “Best Horror/Thriller Short at the Burbank International Film Festival, was one of two finalists at the DragonCon Film Festival, and has been accepted to screen in competition at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain this October. It has also been screened in competition at the LA Shorts Festival (where it debuted in July), and at the Berlin Short Film Festival.
If that wasn’t enough to jolt your curiosity, KEEP THE GASLIGHT BURNING has also been nominated by the Women in Horror Film Festival for Best Horror Short, Best Writing, Best FX, and Best Production Design. The film will be screening in competition at the 10th annual Lady Filmmakers Festival in Beverly Hills.
