We return to Knotts Berry Farm, the originator of the theme park haunt, to bring you the latest news and information on Knotts Scary Farm 2015. Quite a bit of information has come out since the last Scary Farm tracker. We learned that some mazes are returning, The Toothfairy, others will return in a revamped form, Gunslinger’s Grave: Blood Moon Rises, and Special Ops: Infected Patient Zero. We also got news of a brand new maze, The Dead of Winter, and we have two exclusive pics from inside the maze currently under construction. We also got news that for the first time ever, Knott’s will be celebrating a parched Halloween Event for Kids in Knotts Spooky Farm. How amazing is that?
There’s still more to learn about Haunt though. Knott’s is holding a very special Haunt Preview event this coming Wednesday night at 8pm for Pass holders. Last but certainly not least, we announce the beginning of ticket sales for the most sought after Halloween event of the season, the HorrorBuzz/MiceChat Knott’s Scary Farm Meet! The tickets just went on sale today!
Again, if you missed the last tracker here are some helpful links below

Special Ops Infected: Patient Zero
Guests can enlist to fight the zombie apocalypse in an all-out war against the undead in the interactive experience, Special Ops: Infected – Patient Zero. The attraction will include more blood thirsty zombies, twice the amount of challenging missions, brand new high-tech laser guns.
This year the experience is back and much bigger and far badder by creating one gigantic experience that will engage and terrify while being wildly entertaining. With a course that is twice as long, new dangers, new missions, and more zombies, this promises to be an exhilarating experience.
This year, the experience has been expanded. It will begin and end at the front of the park where the Alpha entrance was last year. “There will only be one path that all visitors get to experience.” says experience designer, Jon Cooke. Interesting! Jon continues,”We will be using the former space of the maze Slaughterhouse as a themed queue and use that to set up the storyline, to really get people into the scenario.”
We also get brand new guns that are far more responsive and interactive. “This year,” Jon excitedly said, “As the experience goes on, your gun will gain more capabilities. You will become more and more powerful as you go along.”
Another problematic feature from last year was that when zombies got too close your gun became temporarily disabled, indicating you have been bitten. This lead to many players confused and thinking that their gun had actually stopped working period. Addressing that feature in the game Jon said “Last year the guns would just go dead. This year the guns feature special lighting that indicate whether or not your gun is active or not.” This is an elegant fix to an odd problem. We can’t wait to try it!
The Toothfairy
From the absolutely twisted mind of Daniel Miller, comes the most gory, disturbing maze that Knotts Scary Farm has ever done. While we have no images from the maze under construction as it is backstage, we can’t help but share the news with you that it is coming back. What’s more, it will have a new, even more disturbing ending. LOVE IT!
Black Magic
While nothing at all has been officially confirmed by Knott’s Berry Farm as of yet, we are calling this. It is safe to say that Black Magic is returning for this year for Knotts Scary Farm 2015.
This the scene at the end of the brilliant, Daniel Miller maze in which Houdini appears to fly above guests walking under him. You can see the tall platform that would be the launching point for the actor along with the foot of the faux stage.
The Dead of Winter
Boardwalk Ballroom
It is true that Trapped is no more. However, we will be getting the intriguing new maze, The Dead of Winter. Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson tale that inspired Frozen, this tale is a far darker one. Maze designer Gus Kreuger explains, “The Ice Queen has resurrected her army of undead vikings to exact revenge on the town below.” Here we share two exclusive pics from inside the maze currently under construction.
Wilderness Lodge
Again, nearly nothing just yet to be reported from the Wilderness Lodge. The windows are blacked out which means they have begun working. We are nearly a million percent certain that our beloved Pinocchio Unstrung is returning.
Mystery Lodge
Still nothing official was announced but we are can clearly see that the final scene is being installed using a long sense from the sky cabin.
The Gunslinger’s Grave BLOOD MOON RISES
Knott’s Berry Farm also announced updates to the already gritty and intense Gunslinger maze by adding a supernatural bend to things this time around.
Deadly howls and a full blood moon mark your impending doom as Werewolves take over the crime stricken town, in the return of Gunslinger’s Grave: A Blood Moon Rises.
“This year we wanted to add another layer of craziness to Gunslinger’s and evolve the story” said Kruger. The clues of this eventual change in the story were there all along, but few ever really picked up on it. “Remember there was a wolf in the barn scene?” Gus reminds us, “Now you know why.”
All visitors will now pass through the previous Skeleton Key Room and then wander through the rest of the maze. “No Skeleton Key Room for Gunslinger’s this year.” Gus confirmed. Next hapless visitors will find that the cavern scene has been infested by lycanthropes and are now attacking the town. We pointed out that this town has had a really bad run and asked why the Gunslinger insists on sticking around. “Well, he’s just put down his roots, he’s kind of settled.”
The maze will culminate in penetrating the werewolf fortress. “The ending will be completely redone” Gus assured.
These two mazes promise to be very exciting to say the least. Good luck to the Knott’s crew and Gus, we know you will pull it off.
Voodoo
The crypt exit coming out of Voodoo is fully formed and will add a more elegant transition from the swamps out, back into Buena Park. We are hearing rumors of things being changed up a bit in here. Hopefully we will find out more at the Season Pass holder Preview event.
Dominion of the Dead Location
Peeking through the gates into the backstage we see no notable progress on the façade of what was Dominion of the Damned.
Is it a new maze? We shall see.
Elvira’s Asylum
C’mon. This is the best news ever. Really. We at HorrorBuzz are insane fans of the Mistress of the Dark and are thrilled that she will be returning for Elvira’s Asylum.
The ScareLA Knott’s Scary Farm Panel
Below is full video of the Knott’s Scary Farm Panel held at ScareLA on August 8th and 9th. We get a lovely full 45 minute discussion revealing everything from The Dead of Winter, Gunslinger’s Grave, and returning maze The ToothFairy and Special Ops Infected: Patient Zero.
We also got an exclusive backstage interview with Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) on her return to Knott’s Scary Farm and what she might have in store for us there.
Thank you for reading the Knotts Scary Farm 2015 Tracker 3. Next week we will be making a major announcement regarding our Halloween event and the Halloween season overall. Haunt begins the last weekend in September. HorrorBuzz will be hosting a very special event that opening weekend. Pencil in Saturday Sept 26th. Trust us. You will LOVE IT!
