Horror and genre fans, get ready! A brand new film festival is coming to Seattle, and it promises to be a spine-tingling experience like no other. The Make Believe Seattle Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the best in horror, science fiction, fantasy, animation and more, and it will take place at SIFF Cinema Egyptian, Northwest Film Forum, West Hall, and Queer/Bar from March 23-26, 2023.

This exciting festival will showcase 31 programs, including narrative features, documentaries, mid-length films, short film blocks, and special anniversary screenings. It will also present the inaugural Imagination Award to celebrated filmmaker Guy Maddin for his boundary-pushing work.

In addition to the film screenings, Make Believe Seattle will feature a cinephile game night, live podcasts, filmmaker Q&As, and parties. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to attend the West Coast premiere of “Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out,” a sci-fi caper and coming-of-age story about a teenager who uncovers an out-of-this-world secret.

The festival will also feature two Spotlight Screenings, including the eye-opening documentary “Little Richard: I Am Everything” and the World Premiere of “Pursued,” a riveting thriller about a teenager who stalks her mother’s new boyfriend and stumbles upon a deranged serial killer.

To close the festival, Make Believe Seattle will present the World Premiere of “Poundcake,” a dark and twisted comedy about a serial killer who targets straight white men.
