Ready your blades and brace for the unforgiving wild. Capcom has officially unleashed Monster Hunter Wilds™, the highly anticipated co-op action RPG now available on PlayStation®5 (with PS5®Pro Enhanced support), Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Priced at a suggested $69.99, this expansive new entry in the Monster Hunter™ franchise plunges veterans and newcomers alike into the forbidding landscapes of the Forbidden Lands, where an ever-shifting environment—and the ferocious monsters that inhabit it—pose a new level of challenge.

A Mysterious Threat Called Arkveld

At the heart of the adventure is a reclusive region surrounded by rumors of a deadly presence known as the “White Wraith.” When a wounded boy named Nata arrives with news of Arkveld’s assault on his village, the Hunter’s Guildforms a special Expedition Team to investigate. Players step into the boots of a fully voiced Hunter—teaming up with Handler Alma, Smithy Gemma, and a faithful Palico companion. From there, it’s a race to unravel the mysteries of Arkveld’s power and uncover the secrets behind the uncharted terrain.

Dynamic Biomes & Seasonal Shifts

Much of the game’s innovation lies in its ever-changing environment. The Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin each cycle through periods of “Plenty,” teeming with life, followed by seasons of “Fallow,” where scarce resources drive monsters to clash over territory. These massive mood swings are triggered by the “Inclemency,” an event that reshapes the land at a moment’s notice, testing players’ adaptability in both combat and survival.

Capcom’s signature monster design takes on new life in this unpredictable world. Legendary series staples like Rathalosprowl among new creatures—some traveling in packs, others reigning alone as apex predators. Some roam peacefully until their habitats shift, causing them to become more aggressive and opening fresh hunting opportunities.

Elevated Combat for Seasoned Hunters

Fans of Monster Hunter’s trademark depth won’t be disappointed. Monster Hunter Wilds introduces mechanics such as Focus Mode, allowing hunters to zero in on monster weak points and plan devastating Focus Strikes. The addition of Offset Attacks (offensive counters that interrupt monster movements) and Power Clashes (where players lock in a raw, strength-based struggle) further refine the moment-to-moment action.

A brand-new mount, the Seikret, lets hunters gallop across changing terrains with ease. In between leaps and climbs, you can use the Hook Slinger to snatch valuable resources on the fly, or seamlessly switch between two weapons mid-pursuit. With 14 iconic weapon types to master, from Great Swords to Gunlances, hunts become strategic showdowns requiring timing, reflexes, and creativity.

Cross-Platform Co-Op and Beyond

Capcom has integrated cross-platform multiplayer, so up to four players on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC can unite without barriers. Those preferring a more solitary path can rely on new Support Hunter NPCs, key story allies that lend a hand during tough encounters. This mix of social and single-player features promises an inclusive experience for monster-hunting pros and novices alike.

While the core game offers an extensive campaign, Capcom’s commitment doesn’t end at launch. Event Quests, scheduled to roll out next week, reward high-level gear for those who brave limited-time hunts. A free major Title Update is planned for Spring 2025, returning fan-favorite monster Mizutsune, whose elegant fluid attacks proved a highlight in previous installments. Additional post-launch expansions, including Title Update 2 this summer, remain under wraps but promise to keep the hunt fresh and evolving.

Multiple Editions & Future DLC

Monster Hunter Wilds comes in Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe editions, each offering a variety of digital extras. The Deluxe Edition features exclusive layered armor and sticker sets, while the Premium Deluxe Edition adds a bonus now, plus two separate Cosmetic DLC Packs—one landing this spring, the other in summer. With so many options, newcomers and longtime fans can pick the edition that best suits their appetite for customization.

Choose Your Path and Embrace the Hunt

In a realm marked by dramatic seasonal shifts, cunning apex beasts, and a looming “White Wraith,” Monster Hunter Wilds delivers a grand-scale adventure designed to captivate. Whether you’re exploring vivid new biomes, forging alliances with your Expedition Team, or teaming up with friends for co-op showdowns, the Forbidden Lands promise an endless cycle of challenge and triumph. Don your armor, sharpen your steel, and venture forth: the hunt has begun, and you can bet these monsters won’t go down without a fight.
