The Forbidden Lands are about to get even more treacherous—Capcom has announced the first free Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds™, hitting April 4, 2025. This update brings the graceful yet deadly Mizutsune to the fore, alongside fresh quests, arch-tempered monsters, and the grand unveiling of a bustling new hub area. Whether you’re a hunter eager for a new adversary or simply craving more reasons to roam the Windward Plains, Title Update 1 offers a lavish set of challenges, community features, and seasonal festivities.

Mizutsune: Ruffling Feathers (and Bubbles)

After its last appearance in Monster Hunter Rise™, the bubbly leviathan Mizutsune surges into Monster Hunter Wilds on April 4. Hunters at HR 21 can speak to Kanya in the Scarlet Forest to unlock this watery foe’s mission. Expect fluid, darting attacks and immobilizing bubbles that hamper even seasoned veterans. Monster watchers with HR 41 or above should watch for Tempered Mizutsune sightings in the Forbidden Lands, hinting at a more punishing spin on the already challenging leviathan.

To make matters even more brutal, the newly introduced Arch-tempered Rey Dau appears in an Event Quest for hunters at HR 50 and up. Victory over this souped-up behemoth promises an all-new Rey Dau Gamma armor set, rewarding those who relish an increased risk of carting back to camp. Plus, once you hit HR 50, you’ll unlock a mission to hunt Zoh Shia once again—thereafter, you can battle Zoh Shia during Wyvern’s Wakening in the Ruins of Wyveria, collecting parts for high-rank hunter gear and Palico equipment alike.

Arena, Challenge, and Free Challenge Quests

Title Update 1 also introduces a variety of quest types that cater to both novice hunters and seasoned pros:

  1. Arena Quests – Up to two hunters can tackle these with pre-determined equipment, focusing more on skillful execution than gear advantage.

  2. Challenge Quests – Similar to Arena Quests but appearing as Event Quests for a limited time, these pit one or two hunters against formidable monsters using set loadouts.

  3. Free Challenge Quests – A brand-new addition, where you can bring your own gear and hunt in parties of up to four. Also appearing as limited-time Event Quests, they deliver a more flexible approach to testing your might.

Each quest type tracks clear times on the Expedition Record Board, spurring rivalry among top hunters. Speed-clear runs could earn you unique pendants, further fueling the drive to refine your approach.

Gathering at the Grand Hub

Hunters seeking camaraderie or a little relaxation can journey to the newly unlocked Grand Hub. You’ll gain access after reaching HR 16 and chatting with Tetsuzan in Suja. This sprawling gathering space introduces:

  • Barrell Bowling Minigame – Tuck in for a few friendly frames (or bombs) to win items and new pendants.

  • Village Traditions – By night, the Diva offers a haunting vocal performance reminiscent of Suja’s cultural heritage.

  • Squad Information Counter – Moved from the Windward Plains to keep everything in one communal area.

  • Expedition Record Board – Showcases the fastest Arena Quest completions, awarding limited bounties to the top contenders.

Think of the Grand Hub as a bustling social zone, complete with seasonal celebrations. Starting April 23, the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance kicks off a two-week extravaganza featuring special meals, limited-time equipment, and returning Event Quests. Arch-tempered Rey Dau also appears from April 30 to May 21, ensuring no shortage of high-stakes hunts.

New Outfits and Cosmetics

Title Update 1 dabbles in style as well:

  • Handler Alma’s New Outfit – Adorn Alma with a fresh uniform and possibly switch up her glasses after a side quest.

  • Return of Classic Gestures – Revive your nostalgic flair with free DLC gestures.

  • Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 – For hunters who desire more than just new armor pieces, this paid DLC includes new Camp Gear, Palico cosmetics, and more to keep your gear looking fresh. Purchasers of the Premium Deluxe Edition or Cosmetic DLC Pass gain immediate access.

Don’t fret if you’re not looking to splurge—some extras, like Alma’s outfit and the classic gestures, are offered free of charge. Meanwhile, Capcom teases additional paid DLC outside of Pack 1 for those who just can’t resist leveling up their fashion game.

Looking Ahead

Title Update 1 is only the tip of the iceberg for Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • Late May Content – A special Capcom collaboration, a function for viewing captured Endemic Life, and more adjustments are on the horizon.

  • Title Update 2 (Summer 2025) – Details remain secret, but you can expect more monstrous threats, gear expansions, and continued refinement of the game’s robust ecosystem.
